East India cocktail

The earliest record of an East India cocktail appearing in print was in 1882, when it featured in Harry Johnson’s famous bartenders manual. The pineapple syrup, brandy, curacao and Angostura Bitters work well together for a round and fruity cocktail that is very easy to drink.

Ingredients

  • 50ml brandy
  • 2 dashes curacao
  • 2 dashes pineapple syrup
  • 2 dashes angostura bitters
  • Lemon zest and cherry - to garnish
  • Ice

How to make

  1. Stir all the ingredients together with ice in a mixing glass
  2. Strain into a cocktail glass
  3. Garnish with a piece of lemon zest and a cherry
