Hot Toddy cocktail

A Hot Toddy is also known as a Hot Whisky in Scotland and is a drink made of liquor, water, honey, herbs and spices and is served hot. There are many differing Hot Toddy recipes and they are traditionally drunk before retiring for the night or in wet or cold weather. Some believe the drink has medicinal properties, relieving the symptoms of the cold and flu.

Ingredients

  • 30ml whisky
  • 2 tsp honey
  • ½ cinnamon stick
  • ½ lemon - juiced
  • 100ml boiling water
  • Lemon slices - to garnish

How to make

  1. Place the honey in a heatproof jug or glass with the cinnamon stick and pour in the boiling water and mix until dissolved
  2. Add the lemon juice and whisky and pour into a serving glass
  3. Garnish with slices of lemon
